This week I wrapped up repairs on a 2006 F-150 with a 3v 5.4L Triton engine I bought to flip. Along with a good cleaning and some aesthetic upgrades, this truck got a major overhaul to the front of the motor. In the end, I replaced the timing guides and chains, phasers, VCT solenoids, and crankshaft position sensors on both sides, as well as the oil pump and pickup. I found a sheared bolt which secured the oil pump as well as the driver side lower chain guide. Without support, the timing chain had sprung loose and was wreaking havoc on the engine internals.
